Looking for an engineered hardwood that behaves in the shop and looks sharp in the finished space? HempWood is pressed from fiber hemp with a plant-based (soy) adhesive and no added formaldehyde. It’s designed for interior applications—furniture, casework, shelving, stair components, and retail fixtures—where stability, predictable machining, and a refined linear grain matter.
HempWood® is the first product to use hemp to form a solid hardwood composite. We’re committed to supplying an American-made, sustainably sourced material that offers strength, beauty, and peace of mind. Using hemp that matures in roughly four months instead of trees that take decades to grow just makes sense – that’s why our slogan is “Common Sense”.

Working & finishing
HempWood® 72 Inch Boards are designed to be worked with standard woodworking tools.
- Sawing: use trim saw blades or other sharp carbide-tipped blades for clean cuts
- Sanding: sand to around 120 grit before applying finishes
- Staining: oil-based stains are optimal; water-based products tend to raise the grain and may require additional sanding
